Off we go!

Day 1 Neath to Harwich

As usual it was a hectic travel day. Lyn was up at 6am to work, to get as much cleared away as he could. I caught up with filling the van and shopping for food. I also cooked up 14 pieces of bacon for our tried and trusted bacon rolls that constitute the majority our meals when travelling on the first day. We left at 8pm for the horrendous drive to Harwich.

This was our first time trying a ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland, but I don’t think it will be our last. The traffic was awful, and the motorways full of roadworks and closures but I dare say that is no different than if we had done our usual jaunt to Folkestone to catch the Eurotunnel. We got to the port at about 2am and parked up in the ferry car park and crawled into bed, setting our alarms for 6am.
